ContractorFinancials Tops Mystery Shopper Survey - ContractorFinancials have come out on top of a mystery shopper exercise involving independent financial advisers and banks in a recent survey.
The survey, conducted by Financial Adviser magazine (an FT publication) tested the level of expertise on the complex issue of pensions and how well financial experts were able to discuss difficult issues with members of the public.
ContractorFinancials scored top marks in the survey with the mystery shopper reporting that: “The shopper felt confident after talking with the adviser. The adviser was extremely helpful and guided the shopper through the various pension options….”

There were some problems with the time it took for the mortgage to go through. These was to do though with issues with the Housing Association (we had a part buy flat), and a few hold ups from the bank after the mortgage offer. However, Contractor Money were always quick to respond, and got results from their side quickly (including getting the amount we needed). You recommended the Woolich Offset Tracker at 2.19% above prime – I think Claire called us the day before they withdrew it from offer to encourage us to sneak in application before closing time.
We’ve been in our new home almost a year, and been delighted by the flexibility and value offered by the mortgage – we overpay by about £300 per month, and our mortgage term has reduced from 25 to 17 years! We actually eagarly look forward to the monthly statement that we receive in the post from the Woolich to see how much the principal has been reduced and how much the term is shortened. The power of an offset mortgage is awesome!

You really couldn’t have made it any easier than it was and turned it around in no time at all – esp after I got messed about by Natwest (who I’ve banked with for years!) in the first instance. Should’ve gone with your offer earlier in the year and saved myself an interest rate rise also.
I’ll definitely be recommending you to all the contractors I know. I’ve been in this game a while and have bought a couple of places in the past but it’s always been a grind to get the mortgage agreed, even then the rates were never that good.

I chose the health insurance because I liked the flexibility of the policy allowing me to choose benefit components, starting from a well-defined base level. I also know I can amend this in the future if my circumstances should change.
I also liked the concept of shared responsibility which gave me the opportunity to keep costs low but still provide cover against prohibitive costs should this arise. No hospital restriction is also a benefit.
The entire process of getting advice from Ray Lamb and progressing the application was excellent. No call-centres or second-hand involvement and getting quotes for alternative combinations of benefits on-line was also very simple.

I have been very impressed at the efficient, no fuss, service I have received when arranging my healthcare. On falling ill my claim was dealt with quickly and I received what I needed when I needed it – which as far as I am concerned is extremely important at what can be a stressful time.
As a contractor, without the backup and benefits of being employed by a large organisation, it is wonderful to be able to buy private health care at a sensible rate. I really appreciated the personal touch of having Ray Lamb as my own account manager to discuss my requirements and clarify the options available to me both at application stage and then again at renewal whereas its often so difficult to keep continuity of contact with other institutions I have had dealings with. This service gets a five star rating from me!.

I had previously taken two half-days off work (and countless evenings) to go through my application with another broker only to be told at the very last minute that because I was working through an agency the application had been unsuccessful. With all the stresses of finding the right place too, we just gave up on buying for a while.
A couple of months later, Contractorfinancials asked for half the paperwork that the other broker had and then after an initial review said they couldn’t see any reason why it would be a problem. A week later the mortgage was approved with the same lender who had rejected me two months previously even though I was still going through the same agency.
An absolutely brilliant service – almost too good to be true – keep up the good work.

My case was unusual and sort of a mission impossible. My previous adviser failed on 4 separate attempts to get my mortgage agreed and by the time of applying to Contractors Financials my searches and valuation of the house were complete. The mortgage became a critical bottleneck and the entire deal was at risk. To secure the deal in time I needed a miracle. And it came from one of my colleagues who shared contact details and his experience of Contractors Financials. The rest was alike a good fairytale with the happy end.
